A Little About Me...
Where do I start? Well, I guess the best place to begin is with family (that's where it always begins, right?)... I grew up with my wonderful parents and my younger sister in Stoney Creek. I am fortunate to have a fantastic nephew, supportive husband, and my "kids" which include a leopard gecko (Goz), and three cats (Smoke, Ember, and Harley). I got married in July 2012 at Westfield Heritage Village. I now have my husband and his family (his parents, his two older sisters, his brothers-in-law, and his two nieces) as part of my family. I have lived in Milton since I began full-time teaching in 2007 (so if you see me around town, feel free to say hi!).
In my life, I have accomplished many things. I got my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Waterloo, my Bachelor of Education at Charles Sturt University (which is actually an Australian school with a campus formally here in Ontario!), and my additional qualifications through Lakehead University. I have been a part of plays, taken skating, swimming, synchronized swimming, gymnastics, belly dancing, art classes, ceramics classes, I've tried white-water rafting, bungee jumping, dragon-boating, ran 5km races, been a part of a "Zombie-Run" and more! I love to read, listen to music, bike, practice yoga, and of course, teaching! However, I have to say my favourite thing to do is travel. I've been to many places around Canada, the United States (including Hawaii), and Cuba, but before I settled into my career, I did some traveling around Australia and Europe! I love taking photos, so have hundreds of everywhere I've been! This summer, my husband and I traveled to Jamaica for our 5 year anniversary - I'm already looking forward to when I can have the chance to travel again!
I have so many stories that I look forward to sharing with all of you. I feel like I’ve barely touched on many things “about me”, that I’ve hardly scratched the surface about my interests, my family, my friends, my experiences…and really everything that makes me, well, ME! I have many inspirations that have brought me to this point in life, that have always lead me to wanting to become a teacher. As we begin our journey together this school year, I want you all to know I’m here for you. To inspire you, to help you learn, to help you grow, to help you succeed, to help you face struggles, to ultimately help you start your exciting futures and be your best!
"A good teacher is like a candle — it consumes itself to light the way for others". ~Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (translated from Turkish)
