ON THIS PAGE, you will find major assignments and tests that BEING RETURNED, as well as what UNITS we are working on in the different subjects that I teach, just as a reminder for students, and so that care-givers can follow-up, at home. Please check AGENDAS regularly for day-to-day homework (it is students' responsibility to be sure they are using this necessary tool regularly!), and be sure you are connected on the REMIND APP for up coming due dates and test dates.
**Parents, please be sure you have seen AND signed the below mentioned "Assignments Returned"!**

Google Drive and Google Classroom will be used for many assignments, please ensure that students have access to the internet at least once a week to be able to work on individual and group tasks (either at home, library, etc.). Thanks!
Google Cloud and Google Classroom are great tools for students to use to be able to edit their work from school and home, as well to work on projects at the same time as peers and share with me without the need for a printer! I can send assignments through Classroom, and students can "make a copy" to fill in their answers (if I haven't already created a copy for each student!). Students can get signed into Google using their network login that they use for school, adding "@hdsb.ca" to the end of their username. Google Chrome is the recommended browser.
My Blueprint is a website for students to create online portfolios, create goals, and reflect on their progress in school. This program will be used in the intermediate grades to assist them in course selection for high school, and career planning in secondary school. Just like with the Google Suite sites, students will log in with their school email and passwords. |

Please Note:
Parents often have questions about homework therefore it is important for you to know that it is rare for students to have NO homework. Although time is provided during class for students to complete their daily work and assignments, the Halton District School Board stipulates that students from grades 4 – 6 can expect 2 – 3 hours of homework per week, while grades 7 - 8 can anticipate approximately 3-5 hours of homework a week. Please note, the majority of homework that will be assigned by me will be work not completed through the day (despite adequate given time for the majority of the class) and necessary additional practice to help further student success. Comprehensive subjects such as Math may take more time than others each night. If your child is consistently having difficulties completing a specific subject, or completing homework, it may indicate a need for extra help with the content or time management, so please keep me informed! Obviously, there are some times where there just wasn't the time to complete the work (due to appointments, practices, etc. beyond the control of the child) - Please be sure to send me a note if this is the case!
IF students HAVE managed to finish all their work in class or there is no homework assigned, there is still ALWAYS something that can be worked on! For example - read for 30 minutes/night; review past notes (this is an essential study skill); practice taking jot notes from books/articles; practice writing summaries or stories; study math facts; or look over key terms...and that's just a FEW ideas!
